KIDS GRADUATE FROM TORONTO POLICE DEPARTMENT.

Today some kids who did summer job at the Toronto Police department precincts graduated and got diplomas. This gives them an advantage when they become grown ups to get a job and provide a good reference. Mom says they may even become cops later. Good Job!

WE REALLY HAD FUN AT JJ AND MELANIE'S MORNING SHOW PARTY!

CHECK OUT MY MOM'S REPORT: What a beautiful Monday morning the 18th of August 2008. The famed morning show duo celebrated a big one. JJ King and Melanie Martin celebrated their first anniversary at Fran's restaurant downtown on Victoria and Shuter. There were friends and fans of the show, lots of cake and even a JJ and Melanie special breakfast made up of pancakes one stacked on top of the other. LOL! I have blogged the two's show for a year now and all the fun stuff that happens on that show.

Remember when I interviewed Melanie last year, we reflected on her getting into the radio career and the determination to be where you wanna be. Many memories has gone by from even when their new Producer arrived to join the show in Toronto. Johnny Michaels aka "Newbie" came to town, signed his apartment lease and before the ink was dry, roaches invaded his apartment! We at HipHossip told him to demand the "gel" treatment. Some kinda poison to roaches and safe for us humans and Newbie even thanked me for the advice at the MMVA awards when I saw him there at the press room interviews with JJ. One thing that makes this my morning show fave is that they are who they are and do it just natural. You feel like you have known them forever.

Melanie is the mother of a teenager and spends a lot of time with her longtime boyfriend as we know him on the show as the "BF." JJ is a married dude enjoying life constantly with his wife and Newbie has fascinated us with some silly things on the air that we felt like putting him on a most wanted list. Remember the baddest crime he committed? Going to his sister's wedding cake before the reception started and cutting a piece for himself and his girlfriend??? Whoa Newbie! The morning show is as real as it gets on Flow 93.5FM. Newbie was not present at Fran's as he had to be in the station controlling things for this unique remote show.

Team Flow's Lexi and Kid Famous were on hand as KJ became their instant pal! Lexi introduced KJ to JJ and Melanie and he even met Wayne Williams the Program Director who gave him ashirt. KJ promptly went to change in the washroom claiming he had to pee. Some city construction workers even came in to fulfill their fantasies by personally wishing Melanie Happy Anniversary. WE ARE CLOSED TEMPORARILY!!!!!!!!!!!!

A huge swath of northwest Toronto has been evacuated following a six-alarm fire early Sunday morning. Anyone in the area bounded by Sheppard in the north, 401 in the south, Dufferin in the east and Keele in the west should leave immediately. If you have friends or relatives there, officers are advising that you stay away and try to contact them by phone. TTC buses were on hand to cart anxious residents away from the smoky scene. Evacuees are being taken to the Yorkdale Mall.

Dozens of explosions at a north-end Toronto propane facility near Wilson Ave. and Keele St. shook a wide area of the city. It started just before 4 a.m. I heard the first one 3.50am on Sunday and police have evacuated us in the area. They are saying that we have to leave because the other 2 tanks are sitting on the railway tracks and may explode flattening homes. If you woke up, you will see the windows of the bank, supermarket and YOUR car blown out!

People that were let back in their homes to get emergency stuff went to the computers loading footage on YouTube, Facebook and MySpace! The authorities are appalled because people should be running for their lives! LOL! KJ will have audio reports later.

OK everybody! This is it! I'm always the bearer of bad news! I live on Wilson Street between Jane and Keele. I heard the explosion thinking it was another weekend gunshot. Then I thought it was some crazy thunder as you know Toronto thunders sound different from the rest of the world. I swear I was updating the sites and it shook me off my seat at 3.50am. Blogging may be temporarily suspended. Keep checking. I will try to do some mobile blogging. Our shelter is Yorkdale mall for now and I have the laptop. This is a WiFi hot spot in front of the Apple store. For those of you that don't know, This is Toronto's biggest mall and it's obviously CLOSED TODAY. One of my sons work in the movie theater in there and I just told him we are living there right now.

Update 11.30am: We are going to be evacuated to York University. That will be a wifi spot as it's a college. I'm gonna camp next to their Dept of Engineering. LOL! AT LEAST EVERYONE'S ALIVE! I MAY BE REPORTING LATER FOR MY LOCAL TV STATION SO STAY TUNED.

"Mom look! I found a raisin in my grapes!" ..............Me at 1.45pm this afternoon while I was eating the grapes mom just bought at the supermarket. She told me that raisins are dried grapes!!! Wow! New popular culture trivia to know!

REST IN PEACE MS YVETTE BEAKES.

7 YEARS!! There are some stories in the media you never forget. One such story is the carjacking death of my former Pharmacy colleague. The story is too sad for me to recount as it all started on August 9th 2001 and Yvette's body was found two days later in Baltimore, Maryland. Rest in Peace. If you know where Jason Beakes or her mom Laverna Cordova is, my # is 647-344-5390. Every year I have always tried to get in touch but it is always a dead end!

The last time I saw her, in fact......she had just babysat KJ for me after my house burned down and we were living in a hotel for the next 3 months. I always tell KJ about Yvette today. She took this picture and I will forever remember her! KJ loved Yvette so much at 6 months old that he did not want her leaving that day....not knowing that will be his last time seeing her. It was taken July 31st 2001.

All this because someone owed child support to another woman and they "needed to rob a woman in a nice car to pay it off" or go to jail the next week! Yvette was at the wrong place at the wrong time. This sad story had so many twists. A story that reflected the flaws in the 911 system. Someone saw everything go down and called 911 but they did NOTHING! Her mom sued in Federal court and ultimately lost the case.

I was that co-worker and our pharmacy District Manager Kelly Shanahan was the wife of the Police Chief Shanahan in that 911 jurisdiction that Yvette's mom lost that case to. It was too close to comfort. A mere tragedy nobody will forget. Yvette did not die in vain. She was 26.....Please take time to read the story of our beloved friend, colleague, daughter and sister/aunt.

August Issue of WIRED Magazine Tells How to Win at Carnival Games.

People who want to win at carnival games can increase their chances of winning big prizes by following some simple advice - and never play for money, WIRED magazine says.

• Ask about the equipment before handing over your money. Wonder about whether the metal milk bottles are weighted? Ask to hold them so you know how heavy they are.
• Ask the operator to demonstrate the game, and then use the same equipment. You probably have a fair chance of winning a game of skill if the carny successfully wins and you stand in the same spot and use the same equipment.
  
• Ask about the rules and understand them before playing. If someone has a sign up stating 'No Stupid Questions,' move to another game.
  

'But here is a tip that you should always remember: Never play for money or prizes worth hundreds of dollars,' Gryczan says. 'Unless you are playing in a place like Nevada or Atlantic City, wagering money is a sure tipoff you have hit a gaffed carnival game that's ‘gaffed.' And don't accept a carny's invitation to cheat. '

Other games appear to be easy, but the odds are against players, he says. For instance, the Ring a Bottle game where the object is to throw a plastic ring over the neck of a soft drink bottle has odds of more than 580 to 1 against winning, according to research done by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation. And a game like Roll Down where the player rolls six balls into slots on inclined board may have probabilities of more than 115,000 against winning the jumbo prize.

Skill games like Cover the Spot and Bottle Set-up offer better odds if a player practices and has some athletic skill. 'It isn't any easier to win at a carnival game of skill than it is to win at pool or bowling without practice,' Gryczan says. 'The only reliable method of winning a game of skill is to build a model and practice before hitting the midway. Then you hope that the same game is running there under rules that will favor your skill.'

There is still hope for the less ambitious who hope to win a carnival game. There are two other types of games in addition to skill: games of chance and games of entertainment. Group games and percentage games are almost always run on the up-and-up on the modern midway. A book like Carnival Secrets will help give you make an educated guess at the odds of winning games of chance, but you can usually tell the difficulty of a game by the value of its prize.

For all the phony asses that cannot reveal their age, this one's for you and don't tell me the looks don't spell 45! I'm no teenage mother either. My oldest will be 22 and my youngest will be 8. I am completely allergic to fresh pineapples and will have a serious ASTHMA ATTACK! When I was a kid and see them slice it up, I would sneak and get me a bite.....then my parents would rush me to the ER waiting for hours!

I can't but help that Kanye picture when I saw the date behind him and later found out that he was attending the premiere of a movie that comes out on my BIRTHDAY.....called PINEAPPLE EXPRESS!!! Now the Ontario lottery is $45 million tonite and a maintenance lady took my trash out at 9.01am left outside my door while I rushed back in to get my keys. She took it and said softly..."Don't worry." I was born at 9.01am in 1963! Now my 3 neighbors and I have played tonights lotto jackpot! Some creepy luck stuff today August 6th! Happy birthday to me!
