WHOA: Girls Basketball Coach Fired After 100-0 Win.

The coach of a Texas high school basketball team that beat another team 100-0 was fired Sunday, the same day he sent an e-mail to a newspaper saying he will not apologize "for a wide-margin victory when my girls played with honor and integrity."

Kyle Queal, the headmaster for Covenant School, said in The Dallas Morning News online edition that he could not answer if the firing was a direct result of coach Micah Grimes' e-mail disagreeing with administrators who called the blowout "shameful."

Queal did not immediately answer phone messages or e-mail from The Associated Press.

On its Web site last week, Covenant, a private Christian school, posted a statement regretting the outcome of its Jan. 13 shutout win over Dallas Academy. "It is shameful and an embarrassment that this happened. This clearly does not reflect a Christlike and honorable approach to competition," said the statement, signed by Queal and board chair Todd Doshier.

Grimes, who has been criticized for letting the game get so far out of hand, made it clear in the e-mail Sunday to the newspaper that he does not agree with his school's assessment.

"In response to the statement posted on The Covenant School Web site, I do not agree with the apology or the notion that the Covenant School girls basketball team should feel embarrassed or ashamed," Grimes wrote in the e-mail, according to the newspaper. "We played the game as it was meant to be played. My values and my beliefs would not allow me to run up the score on any opponent, and it will not allow me to apologize for a wide-margin victory when my girls played with honor and integrity." BEL AIR, Md. — The Harford County Sheriff's Office is looking for relatives of a 3-year-old girl found alone Sunday at the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant in Bel Air.

Authorities say the girl told them her name is Keyshanna. Investigators have not confirmed her last name.

The sheriff's office says the girl was brought to the restaurant in the Festival Shopping Center Sunday afternoon, possibly by someone she called "Uncle Damon." She was found shortly before 7 p.m. without an adult.

Her family still had not been found Monday morning.

King was the chief spokesman of the nonviolent civil rights movement, which successfully protested racial discrimination in federal and state law. His famous line was "I have a dream that boys and girls, black and white will be able to play together and go to school together." He was assassinated in 1968.

Talk to your children about MLK. Those "white only" images really disturbed K.J but he needs to know how his country used to be at one time. He fought for freedom even though we are not in the U.S. "Free at last! Free at last! Thank Goodness we are free at last!" That has been played all morning on Toronto radio stations. Noisy classes harm teachers and prevent kids from learning: Experts.

OTTAWA -- Noisy classrooms are preventing children from learning and taking a health toll on teachers, according to experts who want the federal government to adopt national sound standards for new schools and improvements made to existing ones.

"Excessive background noise and poor acoustics can lead to poor understanding of the speech signal, decreased performance by students, reading deficiencies, delayed language acquisition and many other negative consequences," Linda Walsh, president of the Canadian Association of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists, said at a news conference on Parliament Hill on Friday.

MRS OBAMA CELEBRATED PART OF HER BIRTHDAY IN MY HOMETOWN BALTIMORE. MARYLAND.

Happy 45th Birthday to Michelle Obama today as well! Further along the route, while Mom and Dad braved the icy cold in Baltimore's War Memorial Plaza, the girls stayed on the train, decorating one car with balloons and pink crepe-paper streamers.

After the Baltimore rally, Mrs. Obama was greeted back aboard the train with a shrieked "Mommy!" as Malia reached up to cover her mother's eyes and lead her into the birthday car. Malia dropped her hand and, as Mrs. Obama took in the surprise, a party hat-wearing Sasha jumped up and down and draped a lei over her mother's neck while Malia took pictures. Someone cued a boombox and Mrs. Obama and her girls had a little impromptu dance party before the train pulled away.

First-grader brings loaded gun to school.

VICTORVILLE, Calif. — A six-year-old boy brought a loaded handgun to his Southern California elementary school and it wasn’t discovered until recess when he was sent to the campus office because of sagging pants.

The .45-caliber handgun slipped down the first-grader’s pant leg Wednesday while a clerk at the Victorville school was helping him put on a belt.

San Bernardino County sheriff’s spokeswoman Karen Hunt says the boy took the gun from his father’s vehicle. Investigators in the town about 80 miles west of Los Angeles say the weapon was stolen during a November robbery.

The boy’s father Michael Lewis has now been arrested and booked for investigation of receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The six-year-old boy, who will be expelled under the school’s zero-tolerance weapons policy, has been released to the custody of his mother.

Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair is one good police chief. We had a great conversation.

Yesterday, I attended the 25th anniversary launch of Toronto crimes toppers at Toronto Police headquarters. Crime Stoppers is a partnership of the public, police and media that provides the community with a proactive program for people to assist the police anonymously to solve crimes and, thereby, to contribute to an improved quality of life. Kedre Browne was the Student of the Year and he received an award for it. Kedre's blog is at bubblz001.blogspot.com One of my goals is to get young adults to get involved. There was a t-shirt design contest and the new shirt was modeled above by the teens.

6 YEAR OLD BOY MISSES SCHOOL BUS AND DRIVES TO SCHOOL!

A boy is in protective custody after he missed his school bus and drove 10 miles to school. WTVR reports. Whoa!

Girl, 7 and boy, 6, try to elope to Africa!

My mom says that elope means to try to escape to another city, town or even country!! Two young German sweethearts trying to elope to Africa were thwarted by police at the train station in Hanover.

The couple, 7-year-old Anna-Lena and 6-year-old Mika, had planned their getaway with Anna-Lena's 5-year-old sister Anna-Bell while their parents slept off New Year's Eve celebrations.

With suitcases packed with sunglasses, swimsuits, summer clothes, stuffed toys and some food, the trio took a streetcar to the central station to board a train to the airport. A guard, concerned to see the three young children waiting on their own, called police.

"What struck us was that the little ones were completely on their own and that they had lots of swimming gear with them," said Holger Jureczko, a police spokesperson.

He described Mika and Anna-Lena as "sweethearts" who had "decided to get married in Africa where it is warm." The boy had once been to Italy and convinced the girl that Africa would be even warmer.

Anna-Lena told the German television station RTL: "We wanted to get married and so we just thought: 'Let's go there.' "

Asked why they failed to let their parents know, the children said they thought they would not be gone for long.

Anna-Lena's mother, who was not identified, said she had known nothing of the plan. "I'm still in a state of shock. I thought, 'I'm playing a part in a bad movie.' "

The police told the trio it would be difficult to get to Africa without money or tickets and instead gave them a tour of the police station before handing them over to their parents.

Boy, 4, shoots babysitter for stepping on his foot!

Police say an angry 4-year-old Ohio boy grabbed a gun from a closet and shot his baby sitter. Nathan Beavers, 18, was hospitalized Sunday with minor wounds to his arm and side after the shotgun attack. Police say another teen was also injured.

Witnesses told police the child was angry because Beavers accidentally stepped on his foot. Beavers was watching the child at a mobile home in Jackson with several other teenagers and several other children.

Jackson County Sheriff John Shashteen says authorities are investigating. The child has not been charged.
