NOT GOOD: FAMILY GUY DOWN SYNDROME ACTRESS MAKES FUN OF DISABILITY!

testing captions

An actress with Down syndrome who guest-starred on the animated show “Family Guy” thinks Sarah Palin just doesn’t get the joke.

The former vice-presidential candidate and Alaskan governor slammed the Fox animated series after the show racked up some laughs with a line she felt mocked her family.

On a recent episode, a character with Down syndrome named Ellen goes on a date with one of the show’s teenaged characters, Chris. Ellen tells Chris that her mother “the former governor of Alaska.”

Actress Andrea Fay Friedman voiced Ellen and told The New York Times she guessed that “former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor.”

“I thought the line ‘I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska’ was very funny,” Friedman said in an e-mail to the paper. “I think the word is ‘sarcasm.’ ”

The 39-year-old actress has Down syndrome and is an outspoken advocate for people like herself. Palin has a young son with Down syndrome and said that the joke was the product of “cruel, cold-hearted people.”

911 DISPATCHER TAKES CALL TO SAVE CHOKING BABY...IT WAS HIS OWN WIFE CALLING!

Picture of choking rescue procedure (Heimlich maneuver) with baby facedown

A 911 dispatcher in Lacey helped a distraught mother save her choking baby over the phone. But what's really amazing is that the dispatcher, who was in training, kept his cool even after he realized when the woman gave her address that it was his wife -- and his own baby. Janna Scott called 911 Feb. 4 when she found her 6-month-old son Jacob choking.

She wasn't expecting to get her husband, Chris Scott, but she immediately recognized his voice when he answered. He didn’t have the same reaction."Apparently she said, 'Chris, he's choking.' I kind of recognized her voice, but at that point I kind of blanked on my home address. I couldn’t remember it," Chris said.

More here and listen to the call.

7-YEAR-OLD GIRL ALLOWED TO ENTER SEXY SAMBA QUEEN CONTEST!

The decision to make a seven-year-old girl "queen" of a top samba school taking part in the Rio de Janeiro Carnival has caused controversy in Brazil. A judge is considering banning Julia Lira from her starring role despite her father dismissing the concerns of children's rights groups that the traditionally "sexy" role is inappropriate for children. We gave them away say parents of 'kidnapped' Haitian kids.

"I would like to give up my son again," says Anchello Cantave, a farmer here, who willingly handed over his five-year-old to US missionaries now facing charges of child abduction in Haiti's post-quake chaos.

An hour outside of the devastated Haitian capital Port-au-Prince, Callebasse is a poor town set in the mountains, where a massive 7.0-magnitude earthquake on January 12 destroyed 50 homes.

Just two days later, 10 American missionaries from the US state of Idaho arrived in town.

To impoverished parents desperate to give their children a better future, they offered the promise of something more -- but they also represented the children as orphans when they tried to take them across the border to the Dominican Republic.

KINGSTON STUDENTS MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN HAITI.

Mike Norris of the Kingston Whig Standard wrote a story about how we kids are making a difference in Haiti and I am featured on my PIGGY BANK program around Canada.

"KJ Taiwo, 9, a student at Holy Family Catholic School, is donating his piggy bank, which he has been filling since last January, to the Red Cross.

"The images of the children in Haiti really bothered him," said his mother, Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo, who moved to Kingston from Toronto with her family two months ago.

"One day he woke up and said he was going to give his entire piggy bank to the Red Cross."

Rather than open the bank, Taiwo wants to hand it over intact.

"There's lots of quarters, dimes, toonies and loonies in it," said Omololu- Olunloyo. "Probably at least $50."

Taiwo, a budding journalist who has his own website, thekidreporter.com,is issuing a challenge to help Haitian relief efforts.

"He wants all the kids in Kingston to do the same, to donate their piggy banks," said his mother."
