KJ THE KID REPORTER MAKES AN APPEAL FOR HOMICIDE VICTIMS DYLAN ELLIS AND OLIVER MARTIN

Mr. Martin and Mr. Ellis, both 25, were shot dead while sitting in a Range Rover near Queen Street West. Police do not believe the men were targeted. They had gone back to a friend's house after watching basketball to return the wrong keys accidentally taken and were waiting in their car while someone approached it and fired shots. This Sunday June 13th 2010 marks the second anniversary.

Ellis, the grandson of philanthropist Mariano A Elia, was a graduate of a college in Quebec and was pursuing a career as a photographer. Martin was a graduate of a university in southern Ontario, and had been working at a mutual fund company in Toronto's financial district. They both lived in South Rosedale. Ellis and Martin were the city's 24th and 25th homicide of 2008.

The family of one of the victims, Oliver Martin has announced a news conference on June 13, 2010, the second anniversary of his death to announce a trust fund with Ontario Dyslexia Association (who will also be on hand). The fund will be used to fund programs that identify and assess children, for teacher training and to promote general awareness of dyslexia, something that Oliver experienced and overcame. It will be held at L’Espresso Bar Mercurio, 321 Bloor Street West at 2 p.m Sunday June 13th 2010.
