
Lots of teenagers stealing things in Nigeria these days. A Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Monday admitted a 19-year-old man, Muyideen Ariremako, to bail in the sum of N50,000 for alleged burglary.
The Magistrate, Mrs Memunat Folami, ordered the defendant to produce two reliable sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till May 16 for hearing.
Ariremako of no fixed address was arraigned on a four-count charge of conspiracy, intent to commit felony, burglary and stealing.
He burgled the apartment of Modupe Yusuf and stole items valued N120,000.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Prosecutor Philip Osijiale told the court that the defendant conspired with some others still at large and burgled the apartment at No. 4 Powerline Street, Oke-Ira Kekere, Ajah, Lagos.
He said that on Feb. 29 the defendant used the window to gain access into the apartment and stole one LG Plasma television and two phones.
Osijiale said the defendant was caught by Yusuf’s neighbours who saw him jumped out of the apartment through the window.
He said the offences contravened Sections 285, 306, 348 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. (NAN)
